Professional audiobook production from narration recording to final mastered files. ACX, Findaway, and Audible-ready delivery — indie pricing, major label quality.
Narration · Editing · Mastering · Distribution-Ready Files — Full Audiobook Production
Whether you're self-publishing on ACX or delivering to a major publisher, we treat every audiobook like a record release — obsessive quality at every stage.
Every file we deliver meets the technical specs for Audible/ACX, Findaway Voices, and all major distribution platforms — no back-and-forth rejection cycles.
Recorded and mastered in a professionally treated room with broadcast-grade equipment. Warm, clear, and fatigue-free listening from chapter one to the end.
Author-provided narration, professional studio narration, or hybrid remote sessions — we work with your workflow and schedule, wherever you are.
Every breath, click, and background noise handled with care. We clean up performance takes without losing the natural character of the narrator's voice.
We know publication deadlines are real. Typical 5–10 business day delivery for most projects, with rush options available.
No surprise invoices. Our per-finished-hour pricing is straightforward — you'll know exactly what your project costs before we begin.
A clear, four-stage pipeline from raw manuscript to listener-ready file — transparent, collaborative, and built around your vision.
Professionally narrated in our treated studio booth, or you supply your own recordings. We support all formats and self-narrated manuscripts.
Breath reduction, noise removal, room tone leveling, retakes spliced seamlessly. We edit to broadcast standard without deadening the performance.
Full audio mastering to ACX standards: -23 LUFS integrated loudness, -3 dBFS peak, RMS -18 to -23 dBFS, and noise floor below -60 dBFS.
Chapter-split MP3 files (192kbps+), WAV masters, and all metadata labeled and packaged. Upload-ready for ACX, Findaway, Google Play Books, and more.
Audiobook listeners are unforgiving about audio quality. A noisy or harsh-sounding audiobook kills reviews and tanks Whispersync compatibility. We've built a production environment specifically for long-form spoken word.
Our studio chain starts with a Neumann U87 vocal microphone into a hardware preamp, tracked into ProTools at 24-bit/96kHz. Every session is monitored through calibrated reference monitors, not just headphones.
We've produced spoken word, podcast audio, radio ads, and audiobooks across genres — fiction, non-fiction, self-help, business, and academic — and understand how pacing, breath, and tone differ across categories.
Priced per finished hour (PFH) — the industry standard. No hidden fees for chapter splits, metadata, or distribution packaging.

From first-time self-publishers to experienced authors releasing their fifth title — here's what working with Mixmastered Studios sounds like.
"My ACX submission passed on the first try. They sent me a sample chapter before starting the full project — I knew right away they understood how I wanted it to sound."
"I recorded the narration in my home office and thought it was good enough. Dan's team cleaned it up so thoroughly I barely recognized my own recording — in the best possible way."
"Third audiobook with Mixmastered Studios. The consistency across a whole series matters more than people realize. Listeners have noticed the jump in quality from my first title."
Common questions from authors new to audiobook production.
A finished hour (PFH) is the length of the final published audiobook, not the raw recording time. A 90,000-word book is roughly 9–10 finished hours. Raw sessions run 2–3x longer. We quote and invoice on finished length.
Absolutely — self-narration is common and often preferred by readers. You can record at home or in our studio. If recording remotely, we'll give you a simple setup checklist to get the cleanest raw audio possible before we edit it.
Yes. Our mastering targets are calibrated specifically for ACX: integrated loudness -23 LUFS ±1 LU, peak -3 dBFS or lower, and noise floor below -60 dBFS. We check every file before delivery and have a 100% first-submission pass rate.
Typical turnaround is 5–10 business days after we receive all files. Rush delivery (2–3 days) is available for an additional fee. We'll confirm a delivery date before the project starts so you can plan your publication timeline.
Standard delivery includes 192kbps MP3 files (chapter-split and labeled) plus 24-bit WAV masters. FLAC and alternative bitrates are available on request. All files are named per ACX/Findaway submission requirements.
For full production packages, we can discuss royalty share arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Contact us with your project details and we'll explore what makes sense for both parties.
Send us your manuscript or project details and we'll get back to you within one business day with a quote and timeline.
